A focal point of The Vault is a 20-foot wide sapele mahogany door by ActivWall. The solid wood Horizontal Folding Door has etched opaque glass panels and is topped by a custom-designed arched transom.
Funded completely by donors, the Marion Anderson Center was designed by renowned architecture firms Gensler and Pei Cobb Freed & Partners. Giroux Glass was subcontracted to provide and install the building’s highly specialized window systems, including its show-stopping central atrium.
The design of the ActivWall Horizontal Folding system allows it to be used as a single outswing door, a set of double outswing doors, or you can open all the panels for full access to the suite.
Traditional layout of private and public spaces is reversed to maximize connections between the courtyard and open living space.
