Marnel C Moorman School is organized by grades into discreet “neighborhoods”. Each is set up as a learning community with classrooms grouped around a collaborative space – a “Collabora-dor’ – all with overhead doors so those class activities can flow between spaces.
The translucent cladding, by Kalwall encapsulates the building across all nine elevations and encloses the external fire escapes. CGP’s Aluminum System allows for sound proofing up to 40dB's and conealing electrical, phone, IT, and other wiring systems.
All hardware, plumbing fixtures and cabinetry are black adding a dramatic accent to the otherwise mostly white spaces; the spaces still feel light and airy due to their ceiling heights.
