The Number 7 subway extension is an integral part of the New York City Department of City Planning’s redevelopment plan for the far west side of Manhattan and the creation of the Hudson Yards Special District.
The building has three independent functions: a ground-floor public parking garage, car-free student housing, and a social hall and classrooms for the adjacent St. Mark’s Church.

Prime gathering area. The fireplace surround is made of reclaimed field-stone, the cedar pergola and large rusted steel panels reflect the structural steel of the building.
