Metropolitan Community College

In order to maximize the use of their existing buildings and create harmony between 2 programs, the Metropolitan Community College decided to relocate its Engineering Technology Program to the Penn Valley Campus in Kansas City. This decision was a way to make the campus’ assets more visible and usable for the student community. The $7.2 million renovation includes classrooms, a 3D printing lab, an outdoor covered work yard, the Burns & McDonnell Design Innovation Lab, and MCC FabLab maker space. This new facility will make the programs more accessible for students because of the closeness to the city center, bringing many opportunities for engineering majors, art majors, and the surrounding community. Meteor’s Vela 6 fixtures are used to light up this facility.
