The number of different window sizes led to thin precast shapes and challenges with designing the precast to handle the wind load requirements. Special connections spaced at 48 inches on center were used in each panel to handle these lateral load requirements.
Cook County Hospital's prominence near I-290 and Ogden Avenue in Chicago’s medical district meant the public couldn’t forget about this historic beauty as it slowly transformed into an eyesore, and unfortunately, the destruction of the legendary hospital seemed inevitable.
This monumental staircase took on a life of its own with the help of Glasshape® who were contracted to site measure the areas requiring bent tempered glass in the foyer area and then produce all the flat and bent glass required for this one of a kind creation.
The large, arched glass facade at the library provide ample light for the library and a unique, striking exterior.
