In 2016, the opera welcomed new President and General Director Ryan Taylor, a former resident artist in 2000. He noticed when he arrived that the furniture was the same as it had been since his resident artist days. He felt the office needed to be updated to have a consistent look throughout.
Designed by Louis Sullivan and Frank Lloyd Wright in 1890, this residence was damaged by Hurricane Katrina. Goodwin milled River-Recovered® Heart Pine Curly and Legacy Heart Pine Vertical Clear.
The cathedral-style ceiling and various feature walls of University of Florida’s Otis Hawkins Athletic Association were clad in 10,000sqft of Goodwin’s River-Recovered® Select Heart Pine.
Jim’s team carefully removed the over-hundred-year-old carved wood detailing for reproduction. The wood sheathing was in rough shape, having survived over a century of Northeast winters and summers.
