Inside the timber frame "barn" dining room, crafted by New Energy Works, more American Prairie Brown Board clads the walls adjacent to an electronic skylight. The flooring here is a one-off from reclaimed thresher boards.

As a public building in a transitional urban neighborhood, the goal for the new fire station was to create a highly functional, sustainable, and pragmatic building that is also a space where employees in high-stress jobs can relax, socialize, and connect with nature.
Flexible furnishings for Cowles Library at Drake University were designed in collaboration with a local furniture dealer to accommodate the varying types of study and to adapt to future phases.
